Don’t have a rental car, or prefer not to drive? Either way, we handle the park logistics so you can focus on the waterfall, Los Teñideros, the blue river, or an afternoon at a bean-to-bar chocolate farm.

Not necessarily. The tour itself only requires you to arrive at the meeting point. If you don’t have a car, we offer hotel pickup and drop-off from La Fortuna, Arenal, Bijagua, Guatuso and most Guanacaste hotels as a separate add-on service — it’s subject to availability, so ask about it when you book rather than assuming it’s included.
Roughly two hours each way from La Fortuna, and about two and a half hours from the Guanacaste beach towns. If you’d rather not make that drive yourself, ask us about adding hotel transportation to your booking.
No. Every tour price covers the guided experience itself. Hotel pickup and drop-off is a separate add-on with its own cost and limited daily availability, so it’s not automatically included — request it when you book and we’ll confirm whether a seat is available for your date.
A group tour puts you on a shared bus with ten to fifteen strangers and a fixed turnaround time — every stop moves at the pace of the slowest person, and every photo waits in line. A private tour is your party only, with your own guide. You leave when you want, linger where you want, and turn back when you’ve had enough. That is what you’re paying the difference for.
Honestly, yes — at times. Tenorio Volcano National Park is public, has a single main trail, and caps daily admissions, so on a dry-season morning you will pass other hikers, and there may be a queue at the entrance. No operator can change that, and anyone promising you an empty trail is not being straight with you. What we can do is start early, keep your group small and independent, and make sure you’re never waiting on a busload of strangers at the viewpoints.
It’s an optical effect, not a dye. Where the Buena Vista river meets the acidic Quebrada Agria at a point called Los Teñideros, the change in pH makes suspended aluminosilicate particles grow to just the right size to scatter sunlight in the blue range. The water in your hand is clear; the river only looks turquoise at scale.
No — swimming is prohibited everywhere inside the park to protect the river. If you want to be in the water, our private tubing tour runs on the river outside the park boundary, on the same stretch used by the local operators here. What makes ours different is that the raft and the guide are yours alone, not that the water is.
Yes — no experience is needed. You’ll be in a certified life vest and helmet with a trained river guide, and the run is designed for first-timers rather than thrill-seekers. Our minimum age is [CONFIRMAR EDAD MÍNIMA] years. Water levels vary with rainfall, and if conditions aren’t safe on your date we’ll tell you and reschedule rather than run it.
Rain is normal here and most tours run in it — we bring ponchos. If the park authority closes the trail for weather or the river is unsafe, you get a full refund or priority rescheduling, your choice, processed through FareHarbor.
